Ryan began working at Cognizant for their Facebook Project in March 2018 as a bilingual content moderator. During the 1st year Ryan noticed 19 examples of bias and wrote a letter to several members of Congress and Senators in May of 2019. After not hearing back, he reached out to several news organizations and ended up connecting with Project Veritas.

Ryan filmed with a hidden camera for many months at Cognizant, documenting conservations with co-workers along with files and documents showing Facebook’s policies and patterns of bias. Cognizant’s 3 year contract ended early on February 28th, 2020, and all employees at the Phoenix site were laid off, including Ryan.

On June 23rd, 2020, Project Veritas released the first of two videos showing undercover footage. Another insider, Zach McElroy, who also worked for Cognizant, came forward as well. On June 25th, 2020, Project Veritas released the video featuring the interview with Ryan Hartwig.

On July 27th, 2020 Congressman Matt Gaetz announced he was sending a criminal referral to Mark Zuckerberg for possible perjury for his April 2018 testimony before Congress. Zuckerberg testified that Facebook doesn’t censor political speech. Ryan’s firsthand experience as a content moderator directly contrasts with Zuckerberg’s testimony. https://gaetz.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-matt-gaetz-files-criminal-referral-against-facebook-ceo-mark

On July 29th, 2020, during a Congressional hearing on antitrust, Rep. Matt Gaetz mentioned the names of Zachary McElroy and Ryan Hartwig while questioning Mark Zuckerberg. https://youtu.be/Wr8z0IwTNko

On July 30th, 2020, Breitbart News published an open letter to Congress from three whistleblowers, Zach Vorhies(Google), Ryan Hartwig and Zachary McElroy. In this letter Ryan talks about several examples of censorship he saw on a global level. He also mentioned how censorship is rampant in Brazil. https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2020/07/30/big-tech-whistleblowers-urge-lawmakers-to-tackle-silicon-valley-bias-please-do-something-already/

On July 31st, 2020, Ryan became part of a national news story in Brazil when his section of the letter mentioning Brazil became a rallying cry for Brazilians. That same day, the Brazilian Supreme Court(STF) issued a court order banning certain conservatives globally from Twitter and Facebook. Many journalists claim that Facebook and Twitter were colluding with the Supreme Court. https://medium.com/@allandossantos/journalist-allan-dos-santos-exposes-brazilian-supreme-courts-coup-d-%C3%A9tat-plans-against-president-46f045a5935c

He was mentioned in social media by Eduardo Bolsonaro, a Congressman and the son of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Ryan interviewed with many individuals including Congresswoman Bia Kicis, Journalist Allan Dos Santos, and influencer Bernardo Kuster. https://ryanhartwig.org/brasil
